filingalerts.ai ("filingalerts," "we," "our," or "us") provides email-based alerts for U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") filings. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and services, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and a password. Your password is stored as a one-way hash; we never see or store it in plain text.
Subscription information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our third-party payment processor collects and processes your payment details on our behalf. We do not receive or store your full credit card number, CVV, or bank details. We receive only a customer identifier, your subscription tier, and basic transaction metadata such as amount, date, and status.
Service usage. We store the alert configurations you create (tickers, form types, keywords, and other filter preferences), records of which filing alerts have been sent to you, and basic usage metrics such as monthly summary counts. We also keep standard server logs (such as IP address, user agent, and timestamps) for security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention.
Communications. If you email us, we retain your message and our response.
We do not collect data for advertising. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
How we use information
- To deliver the service: send filing alert emails, run your alert filters against new SEC filings, and provide the dashboard.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, billing notifications).
- To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of third-party service providers to operate filingalerts.ai, including a payment processor (for subscription billing), an email delivery service (for sending filing alerts and account emails), and cloud infrastructure providers (for hosting, authentication, and data storage). These providers process your information only on our behalf and under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
Public filing data
The filings we summarize and link to are public records published by the SEC through the EDGAR system. Information about public filings is not your personal data. Only your account information, alert configuration, and delivery history are tied to you.
Data retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your account information within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain records (for example, billing records). Server logs are retained for up to 90 days.
Your choices and rights
You can:
- Update your email or password from your account page.
- Delete alerts at any time from the dashboard.
- Cancel your subscription from your account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
- Email us to request account deletion or a copy of the personal information associated with your account.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar storage only to keep you signed in and to remember basic session preferences. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in the product.
